Designer fashion giant Chanel has paid an extraordinary tribute to Coronation Street – and one of the soap’s most iconic characters – as it prepares to host its huge Métiers d’art fashion show in Manchester tonight. The French fashion house has taken over Thomas Street in the Northern Quarter and turned it into a huge outdoor runway for the show on Thursday night. Chanel has included a magazine of its Manchester inspirations in the official invites sent out to guests this week, featuring a graphic emulating the classic Coronation Street sign set against brickwork to become “Chanel St”. The same “Chanel St” graphic is being used in social media videos that have been posted by Chanel to showcase why Manchester is being used as the location this year.
